Thanks, I can create the link and view the oracle object in SQL Management but impossible to make a select: SELECT * from [MyDB]..[MyDB].[DBMV_041]; returns Msg 7318, Level 16, State 1, Line 4 The OLE DB provider "MSDASQL" for linked server "MaDB" returned an invalid column definition for table ""MyDB"."DBMV_041"".

Doesn't work for me :( After Oracle staff is installed (everything following step-by-step from a video) I don't have Oracle in providers folder of SQL Server.. what can be the reason? When creating ne Linked Server, in Provider list there is no Oracle as well:(

My bad. Once I installed the client just like this video instructed, it worked like a charm. MANY THANKS!! By the way, when you go to install the Oracle 11g R2 client on Windows Server 2012, you will get an error stating "[INS-13001] Environment doesn't meet minimum requirements" because Oracle has not yet released/certified a client for Windows 8/2012 (as of 2013-06-03). I just continued the installation anyway.

Didn't work for me. Would have been more helpful if you had actually added a linked server, rather than just refer to the Properties of the one you already created. For instance, when I go to add an Oracle linked server, the "Catalog" field is not editable (after I select the Provider), yet in the properties of your Oracle linked server, I can see "xe" in that field. How did you get it there?
