I recently downloaded this mod and it's absolutely amazing! Works great as well, no bugs so far. I've never dabbled in alchemy that much, but I gotta try it next after enchanting. I highly recommend ordinator to enhance crafting and alchemy and cooking overhaul to augment this mod's features.
I've played this mod and must say the first time you successfully compose a spell yourself is the most satisfying thing ever. It makes summoning your first familiar for instance a real accomplishment, so you're *so excited* when it works!
it seems like this video is lying, you don't have to research things to become a master mage, you just have it as an option and you can still buy spelltomes just as easily, but maybe i installed the mod wrong idk
Warning: Don't use this mod with combat mods. While this mod is amazing for what the Author has accomplished and works well with a more "standard Skyrim", their is an "issue" with progression because it takes a lot of time and in vanilla that's no issue as flames is a perfectly fine spell for most of the game but its not with major combat mod as you will be "locked out" from the more powerful spells which you need when enemies kill quickly you need to kill them quicker which is not possible with this mod as you as the name implies have to research it

if only it didnt do vanilla spells and was more interactive with the world.
kinda like how in archeage there are combos .
Like light the enemy on fire with fireballs , then , trap them in a water bubble , if they were hot , the bubble will rise so high that fall damage is awesome , but... wait for it... the bubble rises and then waits for a few seconds... upon which you can bring down a giant metor onto the perosn... who keeps running...

Am I right in understanding that you don’t have to remove spell tomes from levelled lists for this mod to work?
With so many spell mods I think it would be a nice balance to still be able to find spells but also be able to research new ones too.
This video has finally given me a good understanding of this mod, but honestly Im still not sure if I want to use it - I think it may be a little too over complicated and cluttered.
Great to see you reviewing Spell mods! Looks like there's been some great progress on some of the mods. I wish the community had an effort in-place to piece together similar mods and merge them into upgraded versions. I spent nearly all weekend fighting mod problems...seems like we have the folks around that can help each other...just not enough of the modders helping each other out!
This is fantastic! I picked the best time to come back to Skyrim and redo all my mods! :D However, I also recommend installing https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/95403?tab=description, which gives fewer magic users in Skyrim. Makes your character seem like even more of a special snowflake, haha!
I wish magic was harder or dangerous your character in vanilla literally stars with ability to shoot flames out of his with no repercussions without any any possible past training and you can find a shock spell in the tutorial. If magic is looked down in a provinces culture it should be hard to obtain spells. If your a bosmer , orc, argonian, it should be nearly impossible to cast spells for the first 20 or so levels.
Anyone have a mod I can use with this that cuts the number of magic users in Skyrim by like... 75% to make it feel there are a more reasonable number individuals who could sit down and write a thesis on magic?
being a mage in skyrim at the beginnin is already very shity and costfull and this just make it more difficult, no thank you.
just specific builds of mage are good, a shame that skyrim make mages so unworth it by the time you spend on it

As lovely and immersive as this is. I don't enjoy the ridiculous time it'll take to actually feel like you're doing well in the game. Sure, you're grinding and some people may enjoy that. But I cannot see how all of this just for the flames spell could be in any way entertaining.
This mod was pretty awful in my experience. I'm all for immersion and alternative ways of getting new spells, but this just became a constant research -> rest -> try composing spell -> maybe get a random fitting spell which might be useless to you anyway.
Its just a reaaaally slow way of getting new spells. And it gets old quickly.
I just downloaded the mod but I have a question. If you get rid of all the spells in the game, how can you do your initial research? If I am understanding the method correctly, you need a spell to break it down into component parts so that you can reform new spells
It’s a fun and interesting mod but I had the being forced to sleep to get my magicka back and I’m struggling to figure out spell construction and have yet to run into a single translation tome or grimoire
Spell Research, of some degree, feels like it should be included in Vanilla Skyrim. I thought that was the logical step forward from Oblivion's magic system, and while Skyrim's felt Cooler than Oblivions, it was also lacking.

Is your Nexus Mod Manager updated? I always used one of older versions and maybe the newest isn't that great or some of your mods are conflicted or require SKSE, most of them from nexus need it to work (it allows mods use new scripts) (when you download and install it, you have to launch game with SKSE launcher, not steam - the new scripts won't load) :)

BoneBreaker D My personal experience. I have about a 50/50 chance a mod will just not work from Nexus. First few months I had it I spend hours trying to get one mod of multiple others to work. When I asked for help people gave me generic non answers and a bunch of tutorials that did nothing. Later I voiced my displeasure with it to which multiple people decided to talk down to me while also not offering any solutions as to how I could fix it.
